Sometimes, when I find an event that I am really interested in, I get very excited and my heart starts to beat faster. I then have an unbeatable determination to get the tickets ASAP, convinced in my head that everyone else would want them too! Dining with Alice is one of them!
Admittedly, I don’t’ know all details about this event. But as it combines my 2 passions, eating and art, I know it cannot go that wrong. It is going to be a theatrical Victorian Banquet with the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter and Alice (from May 12- 21 May 2011). It is organised by Artichoke, of whom I am a great fan. I still remembered the magic they created a few years back in the streets of London with the gigantic robotic puppet elephant and the little girl (the Sultan’s Elephant) in 2006. The public went wild. I even went all the way to Liverpool to attend a conference in which they talked about how they managed to organise a gigantic robotic spider to move around Liverpool (La Machine, 2009) and how they carried out the promotion. Their projects are all fascinating and successful public art!
So where am I going to eat with Alice? Well, it is in going to be in Elsing Hall, Norfolk as this event is part of the Norfolk & Norwich Festival. It has a long history dated back 1470- potentially a perfect set to re-create the Wonderland. I am very excited! I have only been to Norfolk once to see my chiropractor. (Yes, I was desparate!) I never know there is such a beautiful place. I am really looking foward to it!
In true Artichoke style, not many details have been released about Dining with Alice. They deliberately use ambiguity and suspense to trigger imagination. (It worked on me!) Tickets will be on sale from (Monday, November 29). I bought my tickets already as I joined Arichoke’s charity scheme to get prioriy booking (told you I am paranoid)- what a great incentive to get people like me to donate!
